Look at your keyboard. You will see a print screen/Sys Rq key (for laptops, like Windows Vistas, it will be prt scrn/Home). The Print Screen can be shortened to 'prt scrn'.

Press that key to take a shot of your open window. For some laptops, you will have to press fn and print screen at the same time. Viola! Now you have taken a screenie! No, it will not show a popup, special noise, or anything. The only clue is your mouse disappearing for a second, maybe less.

Open MS Paint, then Paste the screenshot. You can edit it any way you want. Happy Screenie-ing!
