1. Open up Gimp and select File>>New. Wel'll be using this image:

Follow the settings on this image:

2. Paste the image and use the magic wand tool ans select the white area of the image. Then either press delete or go to edit>>cut.

3. Select the color you want to to outline with. I'm selecting purple.

4. Now select the Magic wand again. Then select the background. Go to Edit>>Stroke Selection. There! Crop the image and add credit. Save it and you're done! Here is the result:
